SPACE Jam starring Michael Jordan was a huge hit when it was released in 1996 and grossed more than $230million worldwide.

Michael Jordan

The Chicago Bulls star plays himself and he announces he is retiring from the NBA to follow in his father’s footsteps and play baseball.
The film presents a fictionalized account of what happened between Jordan’s initial retirement from the NBA in 1993 and his 1995 comeback.
He’s persuaded by the Looney Tunes characters to help them win a basketball match against a group of aliens who intend to enslave them as attractions for their theme park.
Jordan remains one of the best known basketball players to this day.
He is now the principal owner and chairman of the Charlotte Hornets of the National Basketball Association.
Wayne Knight

Plays Stan Podolak, a publicist and assistant who helps Jordan.
Knight is perhaps most famous for playing Newman in the comedy series Seinfeld and Officer Don Orville in Third Rock from the Sun.
In film, he played Dennis Nedry in Jurassic Park which earned him a Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actor nomination.
Theresa Randle

Randle plays Juanita Jordan, Michael’s supportive wife.
She is best known for her roles in the Bad Boys trilogy but has also appeared in Malcolm X and Beverly Hills Cop III.
In 1996, she earned her first starring role in Spike Lee’s film Girl 6, playing a young out-of-work actress who gets caught up in the dark world of phone sex.
After Space Jam, she assumed the lead role in the 2000 Natalie Cole biopic, Livin’ For Life: The Natalie Cole Story.
Bill Murray

Murray has something of a cameo part in the film, playing a friend of Jordan’s.
The Hollywood star has featured in loads of hit movies, including Meatballs, Caddyshack, Ghostbusters, Ghostbusters II, What About Bob?, Groundhog Day and Kingpin.
He also picked up a Golden Globe award for his role in Lost in Translation.
He remains one of the most famous actors in the world to this day.
Larry Bird

The former Boston Celtic’s forward plays a friend of Jordan’s in the film.
Bird is widely regarded as one of the greatest basketball players of all time.
He was voted to the NBA’s 50th Anniversary All-Time Team in 1996, was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1998, and was inducted into the Hall of Fame again in 2010 as a member of “The Dream Team”.
Patrick Ewing

Patrick Ewing is an NBA Hall of Famer, 11-time All-Star, and former NBA Rookie of the Year.
Aside from an incredible sporting career, he has had cameos in various shows including Spin City, Herman’s Head, Forget Paris, and Cosby.
As of 2017, he became head coach of his alma mater, Georgetown University.
Billy West

Billy West stared as Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd in Space Jam.
He starred in Futurama as Philip J. Fry and in Disenchantment as Sorcerio, the Jester, and Pops the Elf.
West most recently played Muttley in 2020’s Scoob.
Billy also has his own band named Billy West And The Grief Counselors.
Dee Bradley Baker

Baker voiced Daffy Duck and Taz in Space Jam.
But the legend of the screen has over 600 acting credits to his name.
He’s voiced Lion in Steven Universe, Appa and Momo in Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Waddles the Pig in Gravity Falls.
He is also the voice behind Perry in 2020’s Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe.
Danny DeVito

Famed actor DeVito took on the role of Space Jam’s Swackhammer.
Since his role in Space Jam it’s only been success after success for the actor.
Danny has starred in numerous hit movies, including the 2019 live action Disney movie Dumbo.
He voiced the coach in Disney’s Hercules, before producing Oscar-winning drama, Erin Brockovich.
He is also known for his role in It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia as Frank Reynolds.
